The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) has welcomed the move by Fiji Airways to begin a direct non-stop flight to Dallas in the United States of America from December 10 this year.
Reacting to this overwhelming announcement made by the national carrier recently, NCCI president Dr Ram Raju said the latest plans to fly direct to a lucrative North American destination is a timely one.
Echoing similar sentiments to what Tourism Fiji CEO Brent Hill shared with various travel media outlets overseas, Dr Raju said this latest move is all set to further enhance the booming tourism sector while also opening up opportunities for exporters of various Fijian grown and Fijian made products as well.
“It’s not only going to open up paths for the tourism sector but also has the potential of taking Fijian products to a massive market in the USA and beyond via the various connecting flights associated with this route,” Dr Raju said.
“It’s a bold, ambitious and historical move by Fiji Airways as it heralds the longest non-stop distance (10,679 km) with a flight time of about 16 hours.
“Many Fijians living in the East Coast of the USA are delighted as they will now be able to easily connect with Fiji flying non-stop following this timely announcement.
“While we are still on this topic, I request Fiji Airways to seriously look at establishing similar routes for lucrative destinations like New Delhi and Beijing as well since the benefits of having these routes will reap enormous rewards for all sectors of our economy,” Dr Raju said.
Meanwhile, Fiji Airways has rolled out a lucrative introductory offer of $1999 to celebrate the inaugural flight to Dallas on December 10, 2024.
