The Nadi Town central business district (CBD) will be converted back to its initial two-way traffic.
That was revealed by the Nadi Town Council (NTC) special administrator, Prem Singh during the Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry Business Forum in Nadi last Friday.
In 2019, the one-way traffic was implemented by the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) under its former chief executive officer Jonathan Moore.
Mr Moore said then that some of the businesses towards the end of town closer to the Nadi Bridge were not excelling in business. Hence the conversion of the initial two-way traffic to one-way.
Nadi residents together with business owners have been raising issues of traffic congestion and the one-way lead to a long route for any emergency to the hospital.
Mr Singh said the two-way traffic would be in place soon.
“Finally, we have an agreement with FRA for two-way traffic. Work will start very soon. It will be a one-month trial. We will have consultation with stakeholders, members of the chamber of commerce and public.”
