NCCI Welcomes Fiji Airways–WestJet Code Share Partnership as a Major Win for Fiji–Canada Connectivity

Chamber calls the new service a direct response to long-standing advocacy
for enhanced air links to boost tourism and trade

Nadi, Fiji – 14 May 2026. The Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) has expressed its profound delight at the announcement of a new code share partnership between Fiji Airways and Canadian airline WestJet, which will introduce three weekly direct flights between Nadi and Vancouver beginning 18 June 2026, with an Airbus A350 service to follow from 8 September 2026.

The NCCI has been a consistent and vocal advocate for the establishment of direct air links between Fiji and Canada, recognising the enormous untapped potential in trade, tourism, and people-to-people connections between the two nations. This announcement affirms that the Chamber’s calls have been heard at the highest levels.

“This is a landmark moment for Nadi and for Fiji. The NCCI has long championed the case for a direct air corridor between Fiji and Canada, and today that vision becomes a reality. We are proud that our advocacy, including our recent high-level discussions with the Canadian Secretary of State for International Development, the Honourable Randeep Sarai, during his historic first visit to Fiji, has contributed to this outcome. Direct flights will be transformational — opening new doors for Canadian tourists to experience the warmth and beauty of our islands, while enabling Fijian exporters and entrepreneurs to access one of the world’s most dynamic markets.”

— Mr Lawrence Kumar, President, Nadi Chamber of Commerce and Industry

Mr Kumar noted that during his recent meeting with the Honourable Randeep Sarai, both parties had highlighted how improved air connectivity would serve as a catalyst for deepening bilateral trade relations, attracting Canadian investment into Fiji, and increasing visitor arrivals from a market that deeply values authentic cultural experiences and natural beauty — qualities Fiji possesses in abundance.

The NCCI further commended Fiji Airways for its bold commercial vision and thanked WestJet for recognising Fiji and the wider Pacific as a high-value and growing market. The Chamber also acknowledged the Government of Fiji for its supportive role in facilitating aviation partnerships that align with the nation’s economic development ambitions.

As Fiji’s premier business advocacy body in the Western Division, the NCCI stands ready to work alongside Fiji Airways, WestJet, tourism operators, exporters, and government agencies to maximise the economic benefits of this new service for businesses and communities across Nadi and the Coral Coast.
